E-Waste Pin/Pendant

$1,800.00

My Consumer Culture Series is about how our throw-away society is affecting our environment. What part do we as individuals play in the destruction of the planet? How do we reconcile this with the desire to keep up with the newest and coolest gadgets (myself included)?I also question (in all of my work) what makes something precious? Why are some materials revered as precious, when other materials might be equally as beautiful... and maybe even more rare are not. I enjoy finding interesting components in the trash and setting them like a precious stone...and raising the question if using found objects devalues or adds value?

  • Sterling silver, Hand-sculpted glass, Ethiopian Opal, selenite, peridot, calculator button, remote control button, computer part, led circuit board from old, unused toy, stainless steel pin stem.

  • This piece lights up when the button on the circuit board is pressed.

  • 100% of the profit from the sale of this piece will be donated to The Nature Conservancy.
