My Materials

A collection of jewelry including a sterling silver piece, a piece made of handmade glass, a keshii pearl, an Ethiopian opal, and calcite druzy, labeled with handwritten annotations.

My materials-laminated and clear optical glass ready to be made into jewelry.

Cold-Worked Glass

I craft my pieces by layering multiple sheets of colored and dichroic glass, with a clear optical glass layer on top. This top layer is not only highly refractive and prismatic but also exceptionally durable. Made with platinum during the melting process, it results in a glass that is incredibly hard and resistant to breakage. Additionally, because of the laminated construction, the glass tends to stay intact if an impact should occur, as the inner layers help hold it together.
Solid yet fluid in spirit, glass holds a quiet magic, capable of capturing movement as if it were still in motion. Each piece reflects light and color in ways that change depending on how it's worn, creating jewelry that feels alive. The specific colors and textures I work with are chosen deliberately -- each layer contributing to a final composition that shifts and glows differently depending on the light around it.
The glass that I use is so hard that it is highly unlikely to break during normal wear and tear, even when set in a ring. While it's not impossible to break, it's actually quite rare. In fact, over the years I've been making and selling this body of work, I've only had two pieces returned due to breakage, and both were caused by falls onto marble floors at the perfect angle to result in a chip in the glass.

Precious Metals

My work is predominantly made of hand-constructed sterling silver, though I also work in 14k rose gold and 18k gold, as well as a reactive metal called niobium.
As a classically trained jeweler, I work with metal in several forms -- sheet, wire, and tube -- using hand tools like hammers and a jeweler's saw to construct every element of every piece. There are no molds or castings in my work; each component is cut, shaped, and assembled by hand, which means every piece carries a subtle individuality that mass production simply can't replicate.
Sterling silver is my primary material because of its versatility and beauty -- it's workable enough to coax into precise, delicate forms, yet strong enough to hold up to daily wear. Rose gold and 18k gold bring warmth and richness, and I work with them primarily in a series of fine jewelry rings -- using their blush pink and deep yellow tones the same way I use glass: as color. Niobium is a personal favorite for a different reason entirely: it's a naturally hypoallergenic metal that produces vivid, iridescent color through anodization, a process that uses electricity rather than dyes or coatings to alter the surface. The color is actually in the metal itself, which means it won't fade or wear away over time.
All of the metals I use are sourced with quality and longevity in mind. These are pieces meant to be worn, loved, and passed down -- and the materials are chosen to support exactly that.

Genuine Gemstones

I scour the planet for beautiful, unique, and rare gemstones and minerals. I travel to gem shows and source my stones through contacts all over the world, doing my best to use only conflict-free, natural stones. For me, finding the right stone is its own kind of joy -- I'm drawn to color above all else, and I'm always chasing the ones that stop me in my tracks.
My work features an ever-changing palette including opals, tourmaline, sapphire, topaz, aquamarine, amethyst, garnet, emerald, iolite, lapis lazuli, sodalite, chrysocolla, citrine, diamonds, pearls, rutilated quartz, black spinel, and druzy stones -- chosen for their color, depth, and sparkle. No two stones are exactly alike, which means no two pieces are exactly alike either. A stone I fall in love with at a gem show might end up as the centerpiece of a ring six months later; that sense of discovery is baked into every piece.
I keep a working stock on hand, and I'm happy to source specific stones for custom pieces using my contacts worldwide. Reach out to see what's currently available.
