I love experimenting with the concept of creating compositions with volume by piling the elements in a seemingly haphazard way—-but is in fact pretty deliberate. I love to combine rare, dissimilar elements that play off one another.
The combination of opal, dioptase druzy, tourmaline, and chrome diopside creates a bold and captivating mix of colors and textures. The opal brings vibrant flashes of iridescent colors, ranging from blues and greens to fiery reds, creating a dynamic and shifting effect. The rare dioptase druzy, with its deep blue-green crystals, adds a sparkling, textured contrast to the mix. Green tourmaline adds depth and richness, Finally, chrome diopside, with its deep, lush green hue, complements the dioptase druzy with its intense color. Together, these stones create a striking combination of vibrant greens, sparkling textures, and colorful iridescence.
Because I hand-cut stones right in my studio, I am able to shape unusual rough mineral specimens specifically to build complex, one-of-a-kind miniature landscapes. Sourcing raw materials worldwide and doing my own lapidary work allows me to tailor the forms of both this striking pyrite and the vibrant lapis lazuli, ensuring they lock seamlessly into the hand-constructed sterling silver setting.
