I love experimenting with the concept of creating compositions with volume by piling the elements in a seemingly haphazard way—-but is in fact pretty deliberate. I love to combine rare, dissimilar elements that play off one another.
With its natural, unpolished appearance, raw aquamarine offers a soft, pale blue color that brings a cool, calming tone to the mix. Opal adds an iridescent touch with flashes of blue, green, and even hints of orange or pink, creating a dynamic contrast against the other stones. The tourmaline has a soft, pastel green-blue hue, reminiscent of the ocean, offering a delicate and soothing color to complement the others. Sky blue topaz brings a crisp, clear blue shade, adding brightness and clarity to the overall palette.
Together, these stones create a light, coastal-inspired mix of soft blues, greens, and iridescent flashes, combining smooth colors and varied textures.
Because I hand-fabricate every piece in my studio without molds or templates, I don't alter the natural character of unusual specimens to fit a standard setting. Instead, I meticulously build the silver structure around the organic, raw contours of the aquamarine gemstone itself, ensuring a flawless fit that showcases its pure, untouched state. Fun Fact: This is one of my personal favorite rings in stock right now. I love this piece of aquamarine because it shimmers like no other aquamarine I’ve ever seen.
