The shape started as something organic, the way a drop of liquid spreads when it hits a surface, or the iridescent slick you see on wet pavement after rain. The color does the same thing, shifting from deep violet to magenta to gold depending on how the light catches it.
The topaz at the center looks like it was pressed straight into the glass, which is exactly what I was going for. The glass is cold-worked and carved to puff up around the stone, holding it without a traditional bezel. The setting is hand-constructed sterling silver, on an adjustable handmade chain.
