The Rock On Ring balances a moody, metallic color palette with a striking mix of raw texture and sharp lines. This piece has more of an edge than many of my other designs. A metallic, deep grey raw shungite specimen from Silicon Valley, CA, takes center stage—a piece I hand-cut right here in my studio. To contrast its rugged, fractured surface, I paired it with a faceted rose cut black spinel and a white topaz accent.
It’s a bold statement piece with a commanding presence on the hand. I hand-fabricated the individual sterling silver bezels to precisely trace the contoured perimeter of the shungite and the unique outlines of the accent stones, arranging them into an asymmetrical composition that catches the light with a dark, industrial sheen. The entire setting is mounted onto a classic, round sterling silver band that feels solid and sits comfortably on your finger.
Because I hand-cut many of my own stones and build every silver setting completely from scratch at the bench, this ring is entirely one-of-a-kind.
